BIO

Gillian has supported people with mental health and addiction challenges for over 22 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) and psychotherapist who believes in promoting her clients’ strengths and successes through education, supportive counselling, and collaboration to foster personal growth. She offers a safe and inclusive approach to counselling based on the principles of hope, resilience, and compassion.

Gillian’s professional experience includes 15 years of clinical management at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), with a focus on program development for clients experiencing complex mood and anxiety issues. In addition, she has more than 10 years of experience in the emergency department setting supporting those who have experienced trauma, grief, domestic violence, homelessness, and chronic health issues. Gillian has specialized in various psychotherapeutic modalities including Brief and Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Critical Incident Stress Management, Motivational Interviewing (MI), One at a Time Therapy (OAAT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

  • Co-developed the mental health framework for the Glenn Gould School of Music and provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy counselling to students of this academy.
  • Trauma Affiliate for the past 10 years responding to critical incidents including sudden deaths, downsizing, high risk terminations and bank robberies.
